Full Hearts Farm consists of a family of four tending plants and beasts on our lucky half acre in Oakland, California and endless 20 acres in Donnelly, Idaho. We practice Natural Horsemanship with our ponies and strive towards what is natural and good in the rest of our lives as well. The current menagerie includes 2 horses, 9 chickens, 1 dog, 1 cat, and many thousands of bees.
M-E, the writer of this blog, works half time as a Registered Nurse on an inpatient psychiatric unit and spends the rest of her time with family, friends, and way too many crafts and homestead related hobbies. B., the kind and tolerant husband/father, works as an Epidemiologist at the local university and gets in as much mountaineering, skiing, and mountain biking as time allows for after tending to family, friends and an endless list of chores. O. is our exuberant 5 year old who especially enjoys mountain biking, digging, and making elaborate play installations that will most likely blockade some vital portion of the house. R. is the baby of the family. Recently his likes include his feet, any overhead light fixture and eating; dislikes include putting his arms through sleeves and sleeping.
The blog is a way to share all the things that delight me most. It is a smattering of topics, relating mainly to urban homesteading, organic gardening, natural horsemanship, and crafts. I hope you enjoy!
